DIY hand rolls are fun, flexible and ideal for sharing—each cone combines crisp nori with silky fish and creamy avocado.

Serves: 4 people

Preparation time: 25 min

Ingredients

  • Japanese short-grain rice – 300 g
  • Rice vinegar – 60 ml
  • Sugar – 2 tbsp
  • Salt – 1 tsp
  • Nori sheets – 8
  • Sashimi-grade salmon – 240 g
  • Avocado – 2
  • Cucumber – 1
  • Radish sprouts – 1 punnet
  • Mayonnaise – optional

Method

Cook and season sushi rice and cool it.
Cut the salmon, avocado and cucumber into thin strips.
Halve the nori sheets. Place a small mound of rice on one side, add fillings and roll into cone shapes by hand.
Serve immediately so the nori stays crisp.
