Stinky Tofu Stir-Fry with Garlic and Spring Onion

One of Asia’s most notorious street-food aromas becomes genuinely addictive when the pungent tofu is crisped and tossed with garlic, chilli and spring onion.

Serves: 4 people

Preparation time: 25 min

Ingredients

  • Stinky tofu – 500 g
  • Oil – 3 tbsp
  • Garlic – 4 cloves
  • Spring onion – 3
  • Chilli – 1
  • Soy sauce – 2 tbsp
  • Sugar – 1 tsp
  • Rice vinegar – 1 tsp

Method

Pat the tofu dry and pan-fry or deep-fry until golden. Stir-fry garlic, spring onion and chilli briefly, then add soy sauce, sugar and vinegar. Toss in the tofu and serve immediately.
