Sticky Chicken Drumsticks is a familiar Dutch-Indies chicken dish with homely flavours. Chicken drumsticks roasted in a sticky ketjap marinade, sweet, savoury and perfect for sharing. It works well for an everyday meal, but also as part of a larger rice-table style spread.

The strength of Sticky Chicken Drumsticks is the combination of familiar ingredients and warm Dutch-Indies flavours. It does not need to be complicated to taste rich and satisfying. Pay attention to the balance between salty, sweet, aromatic and fresh, and add something crisp or tangy on the side when the sauce or base is fuller.

Ingredients
- Chicken drumsticks – 1 kg
- Sweet soy sauce – 5 tbsp
- Garlic cloves – 3
- Ginger – 2 cm
- Honey – 1 tbsp
- Oil – 1 tbsp
- Pepper – to taste
Method
STEP 1
Mix sweet soy sauce, garlic, ginger, honey and oil into a marinade.
STEP 2
Coat the drumsticks well and let them marinate for at least 30 minutes.
STEP 3
Roast until cooked through and caramelised.
STEP 4
Turn once or twice during cooking and brush with extra marinade.
STEP 5
Serve hot or lukewarm.
