Russian kotleti with mashed potatoes

Juicy pan-fried meat patties with onion and bread are one of the great everyday comforts of Russian home cooking.

Serves: 4 people

Preparation time: 180 min

Ingredients

  • Minced beef – 300 g
  • Minced pork – 300 g
  • Onion – 1
  • White bread – 2 slices
  • Milk – 80 ml
  • Egg – 1
  • Breadcrumbs – 80 g
  • Butter or oil – 2 tbsp
  • Potatoes – 800 g
  • Butter – 30 g

Method

Soak the bread in milk, then squeeze lightly and mix with both meats, onion and egg.
Shape oval patties and coat lightly in breadcrumbs.
Fry until browned and cooked through.
Serve with mashed potatoes enriched with butter.
