A pub lunch that feels wonderfully unfussy: sharp cheddar, bread, pickles, apple and chutney on one generous board.

Ingredients
- Sharp cheddar – 300 g
- Crusty bread – 1 loaf
- Pickles or pickled onions – 200 g
- Apple, sliced – 2
- Ham slices – 200 g
- Butter – 40 g
- Chutney – 120 g
- Salad leaves – 1 bag
- Mustard – 2 tbsp
Method
Slice the cheese and bread. Arrange on a large board with pickles, apple, ham, chutney, mustard and salad. Serve at room temperature so the cheese is full of flavour, with butter for the bread.
