A pub lunch that feels wonderfully unfussy: sharp cheddar, bread, pickles, apple and chutney on one generous board.

Serves: 4 people

Preparation time: 12 min

Ingredients

  • Sharp cheddar – 300 g
  • Crusty bread – 1 loaf
  • Pickles or pickled onions – 200 g
  • Apple, sliced – 2
  • Ham slices – 200 g
  • Butter – 40 g
  • Chutney – 120 g
  • Salad leaves – 1 bag
  • Mustard – 2 tbsp

Method

Slice the cheese and bread. Arrange on a large board with pickles, apple, ham, chutney, mustard and salad. Serve at room temperature so the cheese is full of flavour, with butter for the bread.
