Pizza party buns sit somewhere between soft rolls and pizza swirls. Because the dough is enriched with milk, they bake extra fluffy and are especially nice for buffets, children’s parties or a lunch table with plenty of hands reaching in.

Serves: 8 people

Preparation time: 90 min

Ingredients

  • Lukewarm milk – 300 ml
  • Olive oil – 35 ml
  • Salt – 1 1/2 tsp
  • Bread flour – 420 g
  • Instant yeast – 2 1/2 tsp
  • Pizza sauce – 120 ml
  • Mozzarella, grated – 225 g
  • Pepperoni, chopped – 110 g

Method

1. Mix the milk, olive oil, salt, flour and yeast into a soft smooth dough. Cover and let it rise until doubled.
2. Turn the dough onto a lightly greased surface and roll it into a large rectangle.
3. Spread over the pizza sauce, then the mozzarella and chopped pepperoni. Keep a narrow strip free along one long side so the roll seals well.
4. Roll up tightly into a log and cut into 12 to 16 pieces, depending on how large you want the buns.
5. Arrange them on lined trays, let them puff slightly again, then bake until golden and cooked through.
6. Serve warm while the cheese is still soft, or let them cool and pack them for lunch.
