Small meatballs in a rich tomato sauce are easy to serve from a chafing dish or warm bowl and fit beautifully on a hearty coffee table.
Serves: 8 people

Ingredients
- Minced beef and pork – 500 g
- Egg – 1
- Breadcrumbs – 50 g
- Parmesan – 30 g
- Garlic clove – 1
- Parsley – 1 tbsp
- Olive oil – 1 tbsp
- Passata – 700 ml
- Onion – 1
- Salt – to taste
- Black pepper – to taste
Method
Mix the minced meat with the egg, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, garlic, parsley, salt and pepper. Roll into small meatballs. Heat the olive oil in a pan and brown the meatballs in batches. Remove them from the pan. Finely chop the onion and cook it in the same pan until soft. Add the passata and bring to a simmer. Return the meatballs to the sauce and cook gently for 20 minutes until they are fully cooked. Serve warm with cocktail picks or small spoons.
