What is Kuih Dadar?
Kuih Dadar is not a standard everyday dish in many Western kitchens, which is exactly why it is interesting. At its core, it is soft green pandan crêpes filled with sweet coconut, a classic Malay treat with a lovely aroma. The key is balance: savoury, aromatic, fresh and sometimes sweet or spicy. Serve it with rice, noodles, vegetables or a crisp cucumber side so the flavours can stand out clearly.

Ingredients
- Flour – 150 g
- Coconut milk – 250 ml
- Egg – 1
- Pandan extract – 1 tsp
- Grated coconut – 200 g
- Palm sugar or brown sugar – 100 g
- Water – 50 ml
- Salt – pinch
Method
STEP 1
Heat the sugar with water until dissolved, then stir in the grated coconut for the filling and let it cool.
STEP 2
Mix flour, coconut milk, egg, pandan extract and salt into a thin batter.
STEP 3
Cook thin crêpes in a lightly greased pan.
STEP 4
Place some filling on each crêpe and roll it up neatly.
STEP 5
Serve at room temperature.
