A slow-cooked kosher-style brisket with onions, carrots and a rich savory gravy.

Serves: 6 people

Preparation time: 210 min

Ingredients

  • Beef brisket – 1.8 kg
  • Onions – 4
  • Carrots – 4
  • Garlic – 4 cloves
  • Tomato puree – 2 tbsp
  • Beef stock – 500 ml
  • Paprika powder – 1 tsp
  • Black pepper – to taste
  • Oil – 2 tbsp

Method

Brown the brisket in oil. Add onions, carrots and garlic and cook briefly.
Stir in tomato puree and stock, cover and braise at low heat or in the oven for 3 to 4 hours until tender.
Slice and serve with the vegetables and gravy.
