Layer after colorful layer of herring, beetroot, carrot and potato makes this famous party salad as dramatic on the table as it is delicious.

Serves: 6 people

Preparation time: 60 min

Ingredients

  • Salted herring fillets – 250 g
  • Potatoes – 3
  • Beetroot – 3
  • Carrots – 2
  • Eggs – 3
  • Onion – 1 small
  • Mayonnaise – 220 ml
  • Black pepper – to taste
  • Dill – for garnish

Method

Boil the potatoes, beetroot, carrots and eggs until tender and let them cool.
Finely chop the herring and onion.
Layer potato, herring, onion, carrot, beetroot and egg in a dish, spreading a little mayonnaise between the layers.
Chill well and garnish with dill before serving.
