Classic Sausage Rolls

Golden sausage rolls are a warm coffee table favorite: crisp puff pastry outside, juicy herbed meat inside.

Serves: 8 people

Preparation time: 25 min

Ingredients

  • Puff pastry – 2 sheets
  • Sausage meat – 500 g
  • Breadcrumbs – 40 g
  • Onion – 0.5
  • Parsley – 1 tbsp
  • Egg – 1
  • Milk – 1 tbsp
  • Black pepper – to taste

Method

Preheat the oven to 200°C. Finely chop the onion and parsley and mix them with the sausage meat and breadcrumbs. Cut each pastry sheet into long strips. Shape the filling into long rolls and place them on the pastry. Fold the pastry over the filling and seal the edge well. Cut into smaller pieces and place them seam-side down on a lined tray. Beat the egg with the milk and brush the tops. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until puffed and golden. Serve warm or lukewarm.
