Creamy oatmeal with sweet butternut, cinnamon and crunchy pecans is a warm autumn breakfast to wake up for.
Why add butternut to oatmeal?
Butternut makes oatmeal creamier and adds gentle sweetness that works well with cinnamon. Pecans bring crunch and make the breakfast more filling. It is a warm start for cold mornings.

Ingredients
- rolled oats – 1 cup
- milk – 2 cups
- butternut purée – 1/2 cup
- maple syrup – 1 tbsp
- ground cinnamon – 1 tsp
- pecans – 1/4 cup, chopped
- salt – a pinch
Method
STEP 1
Put the oats, milk, butternut purée, maple syrup, cinnamon and salt into a saucepan.
STEP 2
Bring gently to a simmer and cook for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring often, until creamy.
STEP 3
Spoon into bowls and top with the chopped pecans before serving.
