Light, airy rectangular waffles dusted with sugar.

Serves: 8 people

Preparation time: 45 min

Ingredients

  • flour – 2 cups
  • dry yeast – 2 tsp
  • warm milk – 1 1/2 cups
  • eggs – 2, separated
  • melted butter – 1/2 cup
  • sugar – 2 tbsp
  • salt – 1 pinch

Method

1. Mix the flour, yeast, sugar and salt.
2. Stir in the milk, egg yolks and melted butter until smooth.
3. Let the batter rise for 45 minutes.
4. Beat the egg whites to soft peaks and fold them into the batter.
5. Bake in a hot waffle iron until light golden and crisp.
6. Serve warm with icing sugar.
