A richer Belgian cheese table built around warm camembert, extra cheeses, fruit and nuts. It feels festive and slightly more generous than a standard cold cheese board.
Serves: 6 people
Preparation time: 90 min
Ingredients
- Camembert – 1
- Dried Provençal herbs – 1 tsp
- Honey – 1 tsp
- Assorted extra cheeses – 400 g
- Fresh fruit, such as grapes and figs – 300 g
- Mixed nuts – 120 g
- Crackers or bread – 1 assortment
Method
STEP 1
Score the top of the camembert lightly and place it in a small ovenproof dish. Sprinkle with the herbs and drizzle over the honey, then bake at 180°C until just soft and molten in the middle.
STEP 2
While the camembert bakes, set the remaining cheeses on the board and let them come closer to room temperature. Wash and dry the fruit and gather the nuts and crackers.
STEP 3
Place the warm camembert on the board or on a separate little plate in the centre so it stays easy to scoop. Arrange the other cheeses around it and fill the open spaces with fruit, nuts and crackers.
STEP 4
Serve as soon as the camembert is warm and flowing. That contrast between warm cheese in the centre and cooler cheeses around it is what makes this board feel especially generous.
