A rich Belgian café dessert with vanilla ice cream, advocaat liqueur, whipped cream and toasted almonds, served in a chilled glass.

Serves: 4 people

Preparation time: 30 min

Ingredients

  • vanilla ice cream – 8 scoops
  • advocaat liqueur – 3/4 cup
  • heavy cream – 1 cup
  • powdered sugar – 2 tbsp
  • vanilla extract – 1/2 tsp
  • toasted sliced almonds – 1/4 cup
  • wafer biscuits – 4
  • cherries for garnish – 4

Method

1. Whip the cream with the powdered sugar and vanilla extract until softly whipped and keep cold.
2. Place two scoops of vanilla ice cream into each chilled serving glass.
3. Spoon the advocaat liqueur over the ice cream.
4. Add a generous swirl of whipped cream and finish with toasted almonds, a cherry and a wafer biscuit.
5. Serve immediately as a classic Belgian café coupe.
