Crisp-edged butternut fries from the air fryer are a fun, lighter side with sweet autumn flavor.
Why make butternut fries in the air fryer?
Butternut cooks quickly in the air fryer and gets a lightly roasted flavour around the edges. The fries are softer than potato fries, but they are sweet, savoury and satisfying. Paprika salt gives them extra depth.

Ingredients
- butternut squash – 1 medium, cut into fries
- olive oil – 1 tbsp
- cornstarch – 1 tbsp
- smoked paprika – 1 tsp
- salt – 1 tsp
- black pepper – 1/4 tsp
Method
STEP 1
Pat the butternut fries dry and toss with the olive oil, cornstarch, paprika, salt and black pepper.
STEP 2
Preheat the air fryer to 390°F. Arrange the fries in a single layer.
STEP 3
Cook for 14 to 18 minutes, shaking halfway, until tender and browned at the edges.
STEP 4
Serve immediately as a side dish or snack.
