A very stripped-back bowl with just enough avocado to soften the edges of the ahi and ponzu, without making the whole bowl feel heavy.
Serves: 2 people
Preparation time: 20 min
Ingredients
- Sashimi-grade ahi tuna – 250 g, diced
- Avocado – 1 ripe, diced
- Green onion – 1/4 cup, chopped
- Ponzu sauce – 1 1/2 tbsp
- Sesame oil – 1 tbsp
- Cooked rice – 300 g
- Sesame seeds – 1 tsp
Method
STEP 1
Dice the tuna and avocado into roughly matching pieces. That way the bowl eats evenly and the avocado does not feel like an afterthought.
STEP 2
Put the tuna, avocado and green onion in a bowl. Add the ponzu and sesame oil and fold everything together gently.
STEP 3
Divide the rice over two bowls and spoon the poke over the top. Finish with sesame seeds and eat straight away while the avocado is still bright.
